Surge Bike Mode

I recently bought a Fitbit Surge in hope to use in in my cycling rides. The first one would never set up, so I sent that one back for a replcement. The 2nd one set up after 3 attempts. So the Surge worked ok as far as steps counted, floors climbed, sleep pattern. But the reaason I bought the Surge was to it in the bike mode. It NEVER worked. Swipe it over to the bike mode, tap and GPS was found. Start the ride and nothing. I actually wore my HR monitor too, so I could compare te two.On a 60 mile ride, the Surge NEVER logged a single minute and NO distance at all. The HR monitor showed my HR at one point of 151. At the same time, the Surge was at 105. So the HR of the Surge is not that accurate either.

I wish it had worked like I wanted, but FITBIT has some bugs to be worked out, at least on the Surge.

I apologize if this sounds condescending, but I would like to ask some simple questions that may allow some more options for troubleshooting: After you switch to bike mode and it finds the GPS, are you pressing “start” when you start your ride? If so, does the timer start (the time increases on the screen)? When you are done with your ride, do you press “stop” and then “finish” to complete the ride (registering the ride)? Thanks.

I don't take it as condescending. After going through all directions I could find, I never saw anything about hitting a START button. I didn't see on and I thought I tried everything. I guess not. BOO on me. But also the fact that the HR was off by a lot was a factor in me returning the watch and look for something else.

Thanks for the input.
