If you are considering buing a Fit Bit Surge....dont!  I love the device but Fit Bit does not sell replacement bands, so once something happens to the band you are out the entire watch.  My band is falling apat so now I need to get a new watch..crazy.  I called customer service and they offered me 25% off a new device, no thank you I only need a watch band.  Looks like I am going back to my  Garmin.

Given that the Bluetooth and GPS anteenas are built into the bands of the Surge that does rather render then non-user replaceable unfortunately.

It's easy to criticise others I find, particularly in areas where I have no ability to any better myself.

There are videos on youtube about how to replace the band, the BT antenna sits at the top of a protruding bit where the band slots in, only on one side... if you are careful it can be done. Replacement bands from third party sellers are available and much cheaper than buying a new Surge even with a discount, just google it. Luckily mine was in warranty when the band cracked round the screws so I got a replacement. I also fixed the old one with some superglue. How widespread the issue with the watch strap falling apart only Fitbit know. If there is a Surge 2 I hope the bands are easily replaced.

Eh? Fitbit are in the fitness tracker market - we're not, therefore our trust is placed in them to design and manufacture a product that for £200 or so lasts a little longer than a few months.

Straps are replaceable as they are being sold on other sites, but Fitbit moderators chose to remove any links, I have no idea why as if you are out of warranty it is unlikely you're going to buy another Surge.

I've had two, my last one has just given up, I won't be buying another.
