Surge mileage issues

I've seen a lot of posts regarding inaccurate mileage (but for other products). My query is: what is the point of the surge having a GPS of its own if my mileage is going to be determined on my stride length! It's absolutely rediculous! I run with my surge so I can check mileage vs speed.

I'm not sure I understand your issue.  If you use a Surge in "Free Run" mode then the GPS determines the distance and the stride length settings are completely ignored.

Yes I am using the free run function: However I go running with 3 other people (who are using different fitness products) and we are all running the same route together, yet I am the only one who is getting a lower mileage. They all get the same! I have even gone on to a map app and that is agreeing with their distances! My surge is measuring low!

Can you post an image of the map of your run from your Fitbit Dashboard or from your Fitbit phone app?  It would be interesting to see where the disconnect is.  🙂
