Surge must be due an upgrade/replacement?

I'm coming to the end of days for my second Surge (yes, strap going the way of the Dodo again) and I've just had an email from Garmin for their new £200 Vivoactive HR. In terms of functionality it's pretty level with the Surge aside 5ATM water resistance and colour screen and small advances you'd expect. It's about the same size etc and 8 day battery life. Reviews suggest the app is more detailed but I like Fitbits simple ecosystem and ease of use plus a few friends have one too and we do compete a little.

All in all it appears to be what the Surge probably will be soon. It's clearly targetting the Surge and just by virtue of its newness is likely a step ahead. I'm trying to be fair here...

Problem is, much as I like Fitbit I won't be staying after this strap goes unless I know there is an upgrade to Surge due within a reasonable timeframe. Its not cost effective with the strap such an achilles heel to the device. HR is an issue but it may be on other devices too so not a fair argument.

Come on Fitbit - there is clearly something coming as you are being outgunned by new arrivals.

All I would like is an idea of timescale and I will happily superglue my Surge while I wait a few months.
