Surge not syncing!

I have done all the usual rebooting and repairing of devices, uninstalled apps and reinstalled them, neither my phone ( Nokia Lumia) or Surface will sync with fitbit unless connected via cable or dongle! I've only had the fitbit for a few months (it was a Christmas present) and its only been having issues since beginning of March. Is there a Bluetooth fault?

The Fitbit Android app update from two days ago broke the Surge sync on my Samsung S5.  I got it to work twice after ~ 30 tries.  So while waiting for Fitbit to fix the Android app, I have to use the PC sync dongle.
