Surge will no longer sync with Surface Pro 4

Hi - it worked until yesterday or thereabouts.  The device syncs properly with my PC using the connect thing and the dongle, but no longer syncs with my Surface Pro 4.

I get a slightly unhelpful "Windows is not responding as expected please try rebooting your device" message, which flashes up only momentarily when I try to force a sync.  I say it's unhelpful, because it goes away before I can finish reading it.

I haven't been using the dongle on the Surface - just the app, and until now it's worked.  I've tried rebooting the device.  I've made sure the PC is turned off.  On the Surface it says I'm connected to the Surge via Bluetooth.  I tried turning Bluetooth off and on on the Surface.  I tried "removing device".  I also Itried a two button reset on the Surface - I assume I did it correctly - this computer is new to me.  I've looked through the other threads related to this, and seen people suggesting several workarounds, some of which I've tried.  It's frustrating because it worked a couple of days ago.  Any ideas?

Ok - I got it working.  I went to windows updates on my surface (windows 10/surfaces are new to me) and it had a restart scheduled for tomorrow so i clicked the option to restart now - now fitbit works.  I'll keep you posted if it becomes a problem again
