I suggest contacting Fitbit,
Not knowing what type of malfunction, hardware or software, it probably will need to be handled by then anyway.
By reset I assume you mean the left and lower right, and not the shutdown menu.

Recedived a new Surge for a gift - did not work and had to returnit for a new one - the new one works but the light is too dull - Should be in color like the blaze - plus when you work out they state you need to put the watch 3 fingers back from your wrist, well, the band is not long enough.
Not impressed so far!!!

Welcome to the land of Fitbit @DA60.
Well now the Surgee is only B&W with an LCD screen, never was advertised as having color. This does allow the display to show the clock continuously. Unfortunately this type of display does not generate its own light, but depends on an external source. I find it easier to read in bright sunlight then the other trackers.
Yes the side light on the Blaze is not very bright, but there is also a light sender to change the brightness in relation to the ambient lighting in the room. I generally find it not always great but adequate.
As for wearing it 3 fingers away from the wrist, this is not set in stone, the idea is to get the heart rate monitor away from the wrist that can bend during the workout. I don't have as large a wrist and mine is at best 2 fingers, the heat rate works fine.
I know you are on your second tracker, and assume it is a large band, f you really feel you would be more comfortable, Fitbit does offer X-large in their store.
I'm glad it's working, and sorry that it doesn't live up to your expectations.
