My Surge adds at least 3000 steps when I sync it. How do I stop that?

Can you clarify please? Are you saying that your Surge has 3000 steps more after a sync than before?

 

Do you use any other fitbits with the account or use any 3rd party apps (e.g. runkeeper)?

I usually sync my Fitbit in the evening when I have or are close to my 10000 step goal. What happens is, when I sync my Surge with my IPhone, suddenly my iPhone adds 3000+ steps, and then it reflect on the Surge. What is causing this? I have no other apps synced to my Surge.

I've never heard of this happening before and I'm at a loss to explain it. If nobody else is able to assist then you could contact customer support to see if they can tell what's happening from the server side:
