Text Notification Banner Disappears Quickly

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

When I recieve a text, the Surge vibrates, the banner only shows up for a second, then dissappears.  This means it doesn't give me enough time to swipe down to read the text.  I have to press left button, then the top right button to access my text message.

  1. Does anyone know why this happens when the manual says the banner should remain for 7 second?
  2. Does anyone know how to recitfy this issue?

Thank you.

Hey there @step2itIt's great to see that you've visited the Fitbit Community!

Allow me to help, when you receive a text notification the message should show like 10 seconds on the screen. In order to rectify this I  recommend you doing the restart and setting the notifications again.

Hope it helps, let me know how it goes!

I am definitely not getting around 10 seconds.  The watch vibrates, I look at my wrist and see the notification, but by the time my finger gets to the watch, most of the time the notification is gone.

I just tried restarting the watch and it still seems to be an issue.

@Bwangster12 welcome to the forums. Actually, when you receive a text, your Fitbit Surge vibrates and a banner appears at the top of the screen for 7 seconds, after which a relevant icon in the upper right corner of the screen remains.

Restart again and then follow these steps in order to manage notifications:

  • On the clock, swipe down to view a notification.
  • If a text notification is long, swipe down to scroll through the entire contents of the text.
  • To view a missed notification, press the Action button next to the notifications icon.
  • If you have multiple notifications, swipe left and right to see them all.
  • To exit the notifications screen, press the Action button (top right) or the Home button (left).

If you do this to no avail, I recommend contacting our Support Team for further assistance. They definitely have the proper tools to take a deeper look into your tracker's behavior. Please mention them all the troubleshooting you have performed to fix this. Keep me posted with the outcome! Cat Tongue
