Having just done a mud run last weekend, I would absolutely recommend NOT bringing your tracker on the run! I used my old Flex to track the steps and it performed admirably, although I obviously didn't get the more accurate reading from heart rate monitoring. However, what with getting banged around, possibly electrocuted, and submerged in mud, it's not really worth risking your more expensive tracker. There are estimates online of calorie burn, you can add it manually after the fact.

I ran the tough mudder last saturday in whister and I decided not to bring my surge. I will, however, wear it for my next mudder. The only concern I had was the water obsticles but next mudder I will just remove my fitbit and place it with my shirt.
