Treadmill Tracking on Surge

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

So i tracked my walk with my surge on my treadmill and even though my treadmill said i walked 2.4 miles my surge only registered .93 miles since it was using the GPS setting.

Is there a way to track it accurately without manually putting it in myself?

If you recorded your activity as a treadmill walk, your Surge wasn't using GPS. It only uses GPS for Walk, Hike, Cycle, and Run.

If you were holding onto the rails on the treadmill, your steps were likely greatly undercounted. The Surge, like any other wrist based tracker, depends heavily on wrist movement to record steps. And without GPS, steps are the way that distance is calculated.

Tap on the Exercise screen and swipe to Treadmill.

Looks like i have the option for treadmill run but i don't have a treadmill walk option.

I think i might try that tonight even though i will most likely be walking most the time.

i'm not in a position to check right now, but the Surge can hold only 7 exercise types. Treadmill walk may be an optional exercise you can include, but you'd have to delete one of the others on your device.

But Treadmill Run should work fine; the only discrepency there would be if you've manually set your running stride length to be different from your walking stride length.

Welcome to our Community @crelyt! Currently the walk treadmill activity is not included on Surge shortcuts. Feel free to submit your idea in our Feature Request board. Thanks so much @SunsetRunner for your help!

@VivisFitbit I do not understand what you mean. I had a "Treadmill" exercise type on my Surge until a month ago. I was able to record several treadmill runs, which I can see in my profile. The most recent one was on 2016-02-09. Yesterday I tried again to record my run as a "treadmill run", but the function was no longer reachable. What happened?

Hey there @RdMn! The run treadmill option appears on your Surge by pressing the home button and looking for the run option, tap on that option and swipe until you get "Run Treadmill". This option doesn't appear under the activities you can add to your tracker.

Hope this helps and good luck.

When I press the Home button, I get "Run" right away (no other choices).

When I touch "Run" on the screen, I get "Free Run". Swiping/touching on this screen in any direction does not get me anywhere. Pressing the buttons on the right only gets the chrono to start/stop.

I used to be able to swipe from this screen to get to Treadmill. This has stopped working, but swiping between screens works in general.

I am going to let the Surge run out of battery - maybe this is how I can reboot it.

Hello @RdMn! Thank you for the update. This is really interesting. I'd appreciate a lot if you provide me with a picture of this issue. I also recommend making sure that you have the latest firmware version.

Looking forward to your reply.

I have allowed the Surge to run out of battery, and when I recharged it, it started working normally - so there are no pictures I can show you at this time.

I update the firmware when prompted by the app/website/Surge. I indistinctly remember doing it once.

I could have probably accomplished the same thing by rebooting the unit, but at the time I did not know how.
