Just did an hour seven minutes on a recumbent bike wearing my surge today. Surge results 250 calories burned, 253 steps avg BPM 98. Recumbent says 650 calories burned 117 BPM. Yesterday did about the same and both were pretty much in sync and Surge gave credit for about 5000 steps. Huge disparity between days on the Surge is really disappointing...making it almost worthless as a tracker. Back of the Surge was clean and firmly resting on my arm in the same position each day. Anyone else noticing this kind of disparity? Any fixes?

Thanks for stopping by @Barbinscarble! It's great to see you on board, welcome to the Forums!
Good to know that you're exercising using a Recumbent Bike! It has a lot of benefits, including support when you suffer from back pain. Are you using a gym machine or the actual bike? I'm asking this since it might be an important fact when we're talking about steps taken during the activity, also it is important to know how's the road you're riding on (plane/hilly.) If you're working out in the gym I'd suggest to use the option "Elliptical", but if you're exercising outside it'd be more convenient to use the "Bike" option in your Surge.
Make sure to hold the bars while exercising, as if you simply place your hand on your lap it can give you some extra steps during that time. Review the information on optimal wear closely and follow the recommendations, you can find some wearing tips here in this post.
Note that while you are doing exercise on your stationary bike there is no motion of going forward that your Surge can detect. Your tracker in the most basic form is a movement sensor and if the movement is reduce, in example: doing spinning; where your hands wont move in the same way when you walk it will have an impact, so the calories will be affected. If you believe that your calories burned per minute are not accurate, it's best to adjust your calories manually.
I'd suggest to confirm if your little buddy is working properly by restarting it once or twice. Then follow the accuracy test steps, so we can verify how is this working.
1. Put your Charge 2 on your wrist and check how many steps you have on the display.
2. Walk 100 steps, making sure to count a step each time one of your feet hits the ground.
3. Pause, then check your tracker to see your step count.
If your tracker counted less than 100 steps or more than 100, please let us know and we'll see if we can investigate further. Sometimes, when you start walking you may notice that your steps may not update on your tracker right away. After about 10-15 continuous steps, you'll notice the steps catch up and start updating in real-time with each step you take.
I'll be around!

Thanks for your reply to my initial post. My Surge is not recording steps. I have restarted it and have taken well over 300 steps around my house and it only registered 72. I have seen many complaints from other Surge users about this issue. How long is my Surge under warranty and where do I go to replace it?
Thanks!
