Why do some simple, basic changes that seem logical elude fitbit programers

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

First, the step counter. I get 500 or more steps a day just driving to work. I get 3 or 4 stairs climbed a day without going above ground level. For example I have 1,800 steps and 2 stairs climbed right now. I walked maybe 500 steps and no Stairs. Fitbit claims the step counter works as expected but it doesn't. The problem that eludes fitbit is they had it where you could edit the step counts, etc... But they removed it because they say people cheat. That's all well and fine but don't remove it altogether make it so you can only REMOVE from the counter. That would not be cheating!

The really annoying part about this is it's sending wrong info to My Fitness Pal.

Second is the Revert to Clock Screen. Fitbit claims that people asked for this. Looking through the forums this is aparently not true. The part that eludes fitbit is why would they just go ahead and do it? Why wouldn't they make it an option? In the APP "Do you want to revert to Clock Screen after 15 seconds?" YES or NO.....DONE!  Or press a button to lock, unlock a screen....DONE!

There should be a way to stay on any screen you swipe to.

Some other small things.

Backlight should be disabled while sleeping. I'm pretty sure Fitbit knows people are wearing this to bed.

It should tell you when the battery is fully charged. Currently there is no way of knowing.

Removing steps caused by driving is what logging the 'Driving' activity does. That almost exactly matches your request doesn't it? Or have I missed a sublety somewhere?

Originally with the Surge there was lots of fuss about it being swiped to different screens by sleeves etc. The answer was the 'revert to colack after 15s' functionality. When Fitbit claim this was requested, that is what the are referring to. What followed was complaint saying that while Fitbit had addressed the issue, they'd done so in the rong way which is where we are now.

Hindsight is a marvellous thing but if users had concentrated on what they did want to see rather than what they didn't want we might not have got to this point at all.

As for your other points, I'm sure they're all on the Feature Request forum somewhere for you to vote for. If they're not then feel fee to add them.

There's a driving activity? Why would anyone want that? Why would I want steps counted and calories burned for an acrivity I didnt do?

So the swipe thing was done in the wrong way and it's going to be fixed?

I disagree, hindsite is what's going to make Fitbit better!

You can vote for these things? Where?

Danny,

If I'm not mistaken, the "Driving Activity" was actually implemented as a solution to the problem you have of gaining the 500 steps while driving to work.  If you log that time while driving, it will delete those steps and/or stairs that the watch say's was gained during that time.

I've used it once myself but it's been a while now. I remember it working well.

Well, when people read a post of yours and see you being condescending and negative towards another user, they tend to skip over your post (myself included). I'll agree that "Dannymc" seemed to be a bit irrational about his "problem", but your attitude only ads to it.

It's fatiguing.

So yea, you probably did waste your time.

Sorry you read it that way but the condescension was purely in your head I'm afraid.

The trouble with written communication is that you can't dictate what tone of voice the reader reads in. I guess you've just revealed your inner voice though 😉
