Why such discrepancy between Surge GPS total mileage?

I take the same run route and noticed that a recent run was 1 mile less than normal. Nothing was different and the run was active on the watch. What can I do to make it more accurate? The map has the route the same for both.

Can you post images of the two versions of the Map?

 

Do you live in an area where the spring foliage is just now hitting its stride?  I've noticed around here in New England the accuracy of my Surge drops when the trees hit their peak leaf load.  That said, the worst reported versus actual difference I've ever seen is about a third of a mile.

 

Funny side note; if my Fitbit Surge is to be believed, last night's run proves I can run on water.  🙂
