Hello!

Just a quick Q hoping someone can help me understand calories on my fitbit surge/app

It's set at around 2020 per day, and after a health check thing at my gym, I was told my body burns 1400 by doing nothing. I do quite of lot of excercise, for example today I have walked around 6 miles, ran for 20 mins on the treadmill, 2 gym classes, yet my calories burned is only 1900. I struggle almost everyday to meet my 2020 target.

Does this sound right?

Hello @Daesy, thank you for keep participating in our community. If you are doing an activity that does not require steps (like cycling or swimming), or an activity that requires more than just steps (like tennis or yoga), referring here to your gym classes.  you can use the activity log to improve the accuracy of this activity's contribution to your caloric burn. By doing this you will reach your calories goal more easily.

Hope this helps, keep me posted how it goes.

Hello there @Daesy! Besides @RobertoME's advice there are other things you need to consider. Your Surge also provides calories burned just for being alive! That's what we call BMR, this is based on your gender, age, weight and height. If you're happy with the information entered on your Account Settings, rest assured that your calories count is accurate Smiley Wink

Hope this helps!
