i am an avid gardener and gain most of my steps pottering around the garden. But lately ive realised that a lot of garden activities like weeding, twisting my wrist to plant bulbs are being counted as steps.do other people find that gardening actvities ( or any actvities) are counted as steps, or floors.

When you competing against steps with friends it gives me an unfair advatage

Hi, @blakey61, I find exactly that.  When I am gardening I slip my Fitbit into my pocket.  It still counts my real steps but not my weeding "steps".  That might work for you too.

@blakey61 yes many types of hand activity may produce false steps, this happens because the Fitbit is on the arm and is only able to see arm motions.. Changing the arm possition to dominant may help, or as @Julia_G does moving it to a temporary location will also work.

Hi, @Rich_Laue, like many gardeners I hold my trowel in my dominant hand while I weed and plant with my non-dominant (where I wear my Fitbit). My setting is already dominant (even though I wear it on non dominant), but in the case of gardening, which is a two handed activity, the only real solution is to put it in your pocket or tuck it somewhere else close to your core. 😉
