Activity Sync strange behaviour - MFP and fitbit

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

New fitbit user here. I believe I understand the integration well and the need to only input activity and food into MFP.

I did kickscootering today at 05:54 for 40 minutes, finishing at 06:36 and entered this into MFP. It has correctly sync'd into fitbit. But I do not understand what the entry is for "activity record". My understanding was that my MFP entry for activity should overwrite anything in fitbit. But it seems I am being given an extra credit of 104 cals during the period I was kickscootering. What's going on?

An "activity record" in fitbit is different from a logged activity. An activity is simply a highlighted period of time that is used to focus attention and give a detailed breakdown of your stats for that period. It does not affect your stats and, if deleted, your stats will not change.

What I can't explain is how it got there. On the One you can create an activity record in the same way as creating a sleep record: push the button to start the stop watch, push it again to stop, sync and the activity record will be there. You can also manually create an activity record from within the dashboard log. I don't see why MFP would create one so I am assuming this is not directly related to MFP.

Anyway, however it got there, you are not getting the extra credit of 104 calories as you feared.

PS did you know that if using MFP you have a choice as to where you log activity - you can log in either MFP or fitbit and get equal results.

Hi SteveH,

Thanks so much for the reply I now understand activity records.

I think the flex must have a way of marking an activity record, perhaps by using the same function that marks sleep. Perhaps this is documented somewhere but I didn't see it in the flex manual. This blog post seems to indicate the latest flex firmware has this feature? http://www.jamierubin.net/2013/07/27/three-more-tips-for-fitbit-flex-users/

I have a feeling that the vibrating handles on my kickscooter created the activity record without me knowing!
