Today over the course of the day I did 10,000 steps, for which I was “given” just over 100 extra exercise calories on the sync with myfitnesspal. Tonight I then did a swim (clearly doesn’t use any steps and wasn’t wearing a Fitbit) which gave another 300 calories on mfp. Suddenly the Fitbit adjustment for the steps was -212, only giving about 90 calories total for exercise, versus the previous 400.
I don’t see how this makes sense. Why would a swim make the steps calories obsolete? I would understand if I’d logged a run and the steps were being double counted but as I said I wasn’t even wearing the Fitbit during the swim!

Hi there @pinklyns. Welcome to Community Forums.
I understand how you feel with this situation. Fitbit devices estimate calories burned based on personal information (age, sex, height, and weight), basal metabolic rate (BMR), and the activity tracked by the device. If the device tracks heart rate, the calorie burn estimate also takes heart rate into account.
I also recommend you check on this article regarding, How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity? and How do I connect my Fitbit account with another app?. Some users usually find it useful to unpair and then pair both apps again to refresh the performance, if you already have them paired.
If you continue having the same problem, please contact our Support Team or the third party customer service.
Hope this helps.
