Can I link Microsoft Health and Fitbit?

Microsoft Health is Microsoft attempt at Google Fit.    I really want to see things like my scale integrated and fitbit integrated in general with Microsoft's solution.  It's cross platform so I would hope that even my Fitbit Aria scale and Microsoft Health could play nice together.

There does seem to be a new field called "Source" in the MS Health Dashboard leading me to believe something may be happening...

Could you elaborate? Are you saying that Microsoft gave you a Fitbit Surge as a warranty replacement for your Band 2?

Best Answer

That is correct.  Since my Band 2 is still under warranty, and they no longer manufacture it, they offered me a FitBit Surge as a replacement.

New Fitbit owner here. Today, after attemping to replace my MS Band 2 a third time due to the known band tearing issue, I learned that Microsoft is no longer selling the Band 2, and they offered to let me trade in my Band 2 for any Fitbit model I wanted (I chose the Charge 2). Microsoft refunded me the full retail price of $249 I originally paid LAST YEAR, and I got the Charge 2 for $150, with a $106 credit leftover to use towards anything else at the Microsoft Store (I'll be getting that XBox One S now lol).

Anyway, I was a faithful MS Band owner since the original MS Band I bought on day one of release, three years ago. Now that Microsoft has abandoned the Band platform, I was forced to make the switch to Fitbit today, which brought me here.

How in the world can I get my Band data over to Fitbit??? I tried FitnessSyncer dot com (recommended through another website), but since Microsoft cancelled HealthVault and MS Health services over the past few months, there was no "Microsoft Band" option to chose from the list of the many service providers. I tried with MS Health, but it failed with an "Unknown Error". Microsoft renamed the "MS Health" app to the "MS Band"  app, so I thought that would work. But no go.

I would ***HATE*** to lose all three years worth of data (sleep, calories burned are most important) and hope there is, or will be a solution to this VERY soon...

UPDATE: I have a glimmer of hope lol. I logged back into FitnessSyncer dot com and noticed that the "Unknown Error" had changed to "SUCCESS", and all of my data from Microsoft Health (aka Microsoft Band) had synchronized with the website, finally!!!

This is good news, because I can clearly see that all of my Microsoft Band data from the past year (it only goes back that far) was successfully exported into FitnessSyncer, and now the sync with Fitbit is "In Queue" for processing to push the data from MS Health/Band to Fitbit. I'm not sure how long I have to wait for the sync process with Fitbit to complete, but hoping by tomorrow morning I'll see the past year of my MS Band data imported into my Fitbit account...

I'll keep everyone posted...

This sounds great and may be what I end up having to do.  Keep us up to date to see if it works.  In the meantime, I am still hoping to transfer data the other way...

Good news: The FitnessSyncer successfully imported my MS Band data overnight. I now have my exercise/calorie history accessible in Fitbit. It only went back to April 4th 2016, but I can deal with that for now. As long as I could at least go back six months, that's better than nothing.

It did have trouble importing my sleep history, but I'm not really concerned about that. The excercise/calorie history was most important to me personally. I might do some troubleshooting when I have some dead time, but I'm satisfied.

Screenshots below. I got the Fitbit on December 5th, and as you can see my prior Microsoft Band data is now in the Fitbit apps and website! Smiley Very Happy

You said Fitbit syncs with Microsoft Health Vault. How do you connect the two? I don’t see any options in Fitbit or Microsoft Health Vault.

They removed the integration with HealthVault about 2 months ago.

Thanks for this information. That is really too bad. Health Vault is much
more than just collecting some tracker data or weight info. Would have been
nice to have the Fitbit data integrate with rest of the health record. It
is generally also good to duplicate collected information since
applications and databases come and go.
