Can other Bluetooth scales work with fitbit?

Just got fitbits for my and hubby and we have access from a friend to a digital Bluetooth enabled scale. Can we set it to link to fitbit and start tracking on our dashboards automatically with a different brand of scale if it is not the fitbit brand scale?

To my understanding no, only the Fitbit Aria can be set to automatically sync with Fitbit.

I've read in a couple of places that the Withings Scale will sync to your fitbit account and it's cheaper at $99 (Amazon).   Currently investigating that as I bought an Aria scale and spent TWO hours trying to set the thing up last night & never could get it to work.  Very frustrating.

Yes, I just used the Withings Connection Wizard to synch my Withings scale to my fitbit account.  Now whenever I weigh in on the scale, the results automatically show up on my fitbit dashboard.  The wizard even lets you import historical info into your fitbit account.  Very cool.

does it also upload the heart rate data?

I don't know.  I have the older scale that doesn't capture heart rate information.  Try it and see.  Then report back to this thread so everyone else can learn from your experience.

If your wifi password has special characters it won't work with the Aria.

Maybe try syncmetrics.com , this site is a third party app that will sync some accounts to fitbit. If the cloud service that this scale will log to is on there it woul probably work through syncmetrics. Since you are using a friend's scale--for it to sync it would need to be uploading your weight to your own account. It looks like it syncs with Withings and Ihealth. I use it to sync my Withings blood pressure/resting pulse to fitbit.

I have the Withings WS50 and the wireless blood pressure monitor. Withings seamlessly imports the data to Fitbit dashboard for weight. Withings WS50 and their marketing department are delusional in calling it a "body analyzer" -- it only does BMI and heartrate is inaccurate. It should have included water weight, bone density like other scales.
