Can't link Fitbit and third-party app getting linking failed

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello, I have an app that sync to my fitbit without issue.  Then it so happened that I have to change my login name on that app.  To sync fitbit on that new login name, i went to fitbit settings and revoke the access of that app first.  Then using the new login name, i tried to link my fitbit but it shows an error message saying “linking failed”.  Then I tried using the old login name for this third party app, i tried to link my fitbit and it is successful.  It seems like fitbit has locked-in to that old login name.

How then can I link my new login name on that same 3rd party app?

Thank you.

@OliverPA Welcome to the Community.

Thanks for the details mentioned. I would like you to confirm you're following these steps to link Fitbit and your third-party app:

  1. Log in to your account on the app or website of a company that offers Fitbit integration, such as MyFitnessPal, Endomondo, or Runkeeper.
  2. Find the section for connecting another account. This section is often called "Apps" or "Connect."
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions and log in to your Fitbit account when prompted.

I would like you to make sure that you've unlinked Fitbit from that third party app too. If this doesn't work, please let me know which third-party app you're using.

I'll be around if you need further assistance.

@SilviaFitbit, thank you for your reply

yes i followed the steps in the app.

app name is Philam Vitality Active

- In th app, there is an option that says “link device or app”

- once you click on it, it will show the various devices you can link it in

- when you select fitbit, window will open asking you to login to your fitbit account

- upon successful login, it shows a checklist of choices you can allow to app to sync/access.  I just select “allow all”

- after that, app will try to link but it will show “failed to link” error message.

I checked the connected 3rd party app in fitbit and I can see the app in there, I also tried to revoke access from there but still was not able to connect to my 3rd party app’s new login name.

using my old login on that 3rd party app there is not problem, i can connect and disconnect fitbit at will.

Let me know if you need more info.

Hope we can resolve this.

Thank you,

Oliver
