Charge 2 Heart Rate in Strava

I just started using my Charge 2 heart rate monitor.  I tried a bike ride, and was dissapointed to see that the Strava app could not receive heart rate data from the heart rate monitor within the Charge 2 device.  This is dissapointing as it is good training data, and increases accuracy of my calorie estimates.

To make matters worse, the user experience of recording a cycling trip directly within the Fitbit device is unacceptably poor - I don't get strava-specific feature such as segments, and the worst part is that I can't pause my ride for an errand, break, or bike maintenance.  It   will record heart rate data, and it will sync to Strava app, but the lack of these features makes this unacceptable.

Two options seem viable:

1) Heart Rate should be made available from FitBit to Strava app.  This would require no change to current usage patterns.  (This is the preferred solution.)

2) If I record the ride on both FitBit and Strava, the experiences could be merged into a single ride profile.  (This seems like an over-complicated solution and I am not fond of this idea.)

I hope that there is already a way to do this, and I just need help discovering how.

Sincerely,

---tom

@tomalphin Are you using the Charge 2's connected GPS feature to record your bike rides?
