Charge 2 doesnt read texts, but will read test message

Using lg g3,on android 5.1.1. Using "Next sms" aka "Handcent sms" has created an issue where my charge 2 will vibe when I get a message but will never give me sender info or text readout. It will show the "chat bubble",but stays blank otherwise. When I go into "next sms" settings and perform a notification test, the readout works fine. It just won't work with a real text. Any ideas?

(Using a different messing app is not currently an option)

I would say to check the settings in your messaging app. 

I'm interested to know what is displayed on the lock screen of the phone when a text comes in. 

One more thing, does the test request working correctly?
