Connecting Fitbit and Google Fit

Hello,

I just connected my Google fit account with my Fitbit and I was curious what this does? I own the Fitbit Charge 3 and the Fossil Gen 5, will my activity transfer between accounts?

@David_GP Welcome to the Community. Sorry for the delayed reply.

Thanks for mentioning the Fitbits that you have. Currently, Fitbit doesn't plan to make an integration between Fitbit and Google Fit, please find out more information about it by checking the idea here

Fitbit is now a Google company but still no support for Google Fit sync and Google Pay.

Real strange thing and for me the reason not to buy the new Fitbit Charge 4. If it had full sync support with Google Fit then I directly would buy one. But now every Wear OS Watch is better. Even cheap Huawei/Honor and mi band's have better support for Google Fit then a product of a Google company.

And still not even plans to improve that. 😞

@bshogeman Fitbit is not a Google company. The intention of acquisition by Google has to be approved by all regulatory organizations.

Your judgement that every WearOS device is actually better is just your opinion, having owned 2 WearOS devices I actually have a completely opposite opinion (unfortunately I admit as I love the Google ecosystem)

@David_GP

It is possible to connect Google Fit and Fitbit via a third party app called FitToFit that is actually very well done. The app has 2 ways of operating (you can choose in the settings):

- overwrite (In this way eventual steps measured directly by Google Fit are overwritten by Fitbit value)

- intelligent (the app makes its own judgement when combining the 2 measures, for example if you bring with you your phone/Fossil but leave home your Fitbit, those steps measures my your smartphone/Fossil will be kept).

However steps measured by Google Fit will not be transferred to Fitbit.

Let me know if you need further help.

I have both a WearOS watch and a Fitbit Charge3. I pretty much wear both daily. I use the Charge3 strictly for fitness & sleep tracking and don't use any of the smart watch features on it. I use the WearOS for all my smartwatch stuff. My reasoning is this. The battery life on the FitBit is far superior. I charge it a few times a week when I shower and I never need to worry about it. The WearOS Device needs to be charged daily and with a widely varying schedule, it's easiest to throw it on the charger and have it ready to go the next morning. Yep there are other ways that I could do it but this is what works for me.

Also, I second the suggestion for the Fit to Fit app. It works well for me though try to check it at least weekly because it errors occasionally and stops syncing. Usually, it's just a few taps and then set it up to sync the data since the last successful sync.

Now that fitbit has been aquired by Google. Will they be working on better integration?

Personal I use Health Sync but there are others to like fitnesssyncer, fitnessconnect, tapiriik or FitToFit.

But I still hope Fitbit gets an direct option and not all kind of solutions just to get around it.

Did anyone get a problem with sleep syn to Google Fit? The sleep information will only sync to Fit when I manually sync it, tried using daily or every hour schedule, the sleep information will not sync over.

That's ridiculous. Why would Fitbit make integration difficult? It makes it less attractive to switch if I can't bring my data

Hi,

Today was a heavy workout day and I realized that google Fit and Fitbit gave me vastly different sets of information. In the morning, I walked roundtrip to the gym and did rockclimbing. I had my Fitbit on in the gym but not my phone. When I got home my steps and miles on Fitbit was higher than google Fit, I assumed it was tracking my climbs although it seems Fitbit isn't able to do that. Later today I went for a run and then a bike ride with both my phone and my Fitbit. At the end of the day, google Fit had about 6k less steps but 2mi more than Fitbit. Which app is accurate and if I integrate using healthsync what data can I expect? I would think that distance isn't subjective, correct?
