Facebook won't connect to my Fitbit app to show/add friends

On my iphone, when I attempt to add friends in the FitBit app from Facebook, a circle just spins but it never connects with Facebook.  Why is this an option when it hasn't worked for so long, or is there a known solution?  I used to be able to view all my Facebook FitBit friends from the FitBit app on my iphone.
