Fitbit Exercise Tracking side by side with My Fitness Pal

I am unsure of how to track exercise.  If I wear my fitbit, it counts steps and sync's with My Fitness Pal  and gives credit or calorie points so I stay on track, but I am not sure if when I exercise other than walking, (say for example 30 minutes on the elliptical) if I should be logging that exercise to My Fitness Pal or just let the Fitbit track accordingly and track or basically give me credit on my calorie counter???

I feel like if I manually add additional exercise it will over state the calories I have exercised and then I won't be staying under my calorie allotment if I think I can eat more than stated??

Any ideas or am I making this too complicated??

Thank you.

I am sorry, @MaryJo55, since this was posted in the Charge 2 Help Forum, I assumed you had the Charge 2.  Please disregard my comments.

I think the simple answer to that, @MaryJo55, is Yes.  I would think you would want to track all of your exercise using the Charge 2 so that it not only records activity, but calculates the calorie burn for those activities. Then, MyFitnessPasl can extract that data to update its records. I would suggest, though, that you use the Charge 2 Exercise Mode for Walk and Elliptical to record the exercise activity rather manually enter the data.

My problem is that I only have a "basic" fitbit which I believe is the original "Charge" which only gives me data, I cannot input anything.

Thank you for your help.
