Fitbit Food Database

So this is more of a comment than a question. The food database that Fitbit is currently using is, in a word, terrible. For instance, I went to enter an apple I had yesterday. It didn't offer any different kinds of types like a braeburn, just an apple. There are so many other food databases that are far superior, it would be nice if Fitbit either partnered with those groups or something to improve their database. It would be nice to just enter my info in one app instead of having to jump back and forth.

There are a few alternatives to using the fitbit food database. Certain apps sync with fitbit allowing you to track your food elsewhere. I use the MyFitnessPal app which has a much better food database for UK users and the sync with fitbit is pretty good. I do appreciate this means using more than one app but I don't find this a problem. The full list of supported apps is here:

@SteveH So MFP calorie tracking information gets imported into the Fitbit Dashboard?

That still defeats the purpose of the calorie tracker that Fitbit offers.

That's right, MFP syncs calories eaten into fitbit's dashboard, although it is summarised at meal level (the details remain available in MFP).

Well, yes and no. The calories consumed in My Fitness Pal will cross over in a summary so you will be able to compare in and out. As mentioned, you will not be able to see the calories consumed at a detail level here. That is pretty much true of any apps linking with My Fitness Pal. I was using it previously with the Jawbone Up app and it was only a daily summary.
