Fitbit Ionic GPS map not syncing to Map My Run

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I bought the Fitbit Ionic for one purpose:  to avoid having to carry my phone on runs in order to track my workout on MapMyRun. I don't own an iPhone, so getting an Apple Watch was not an option. I was told by Best Buy that the Ionic would download the maps into the MapMyRun app. However, I'm finding that this is not the case at all. I am highly disappointed to the point where I want to return the Ionic, but then I am left with the original problem of having to run with my phone. Bottom line, can someone please give me the step by step instructions on how to export my workout to map MapMyRun? After reading other blogs I am discovering that the only way to do it is to export some sort of file. I'm not very tech-savvy, so I would like a step-by-step directive. Otherwise, the watch gets returned. I'm very disappointed that MapMyRun and Fitbit don't integrate with each other the way they should.

Sorry @Kimichanga bit Fitbit does not have control over what the salesman has promised.

The best place to find out what Naomi run, actually Mapmy fitness, wants to take or send would be on mapmyfitness web sight

Their you will see what MMR will take,

* Daily Steps

* Weight (only if entered in Fitbit or you have a Fitbit Aria scale)

* Sleep Total

I use the word tsketbecause third parties are responsible for their hook with Fitbit.

It's not what the salesman said, it's what FITBIT promised. When you click on compatible apps this is a picture of what you get (see attachment). Looks to me like that is a MAP. I think Fitbit should be more clear on what exactly is compatible and what is not. They need to specifically state what part of the app is compatible and what is not. Because when 99% of it is not compatible, you can't exactly claim compatibility with an app if only 1% is. Fitbit definitely needs to go back to the drawing board with this one. I will be turning returning this watch and getting a Garmin.Thank you,KimSent via the Samsung Galaxy S7 active, an AT&T 4G LTE smartphone

Definately return the Ionic. Garmin Venu, vivoactive 4/4S, Forrunner 645,945, have all the features of the ionic and more. The Garmin watches will do exactly what you want with Mapmyfitness.  Garmin is slightly more expensive about $100 for Venu and Vivoactive 4 or 4S.  You would need to check compatibility with Garmin and your phone, but the computer interface works well with Garmin.

Alternatively, stop using the UA MapMy products and switch to Strava. Strava works very well with Ionic and has much better features than MapMy products.

@RemyPR the reason Strava has a better integration is because they approached Fitbit and Fitbit is the owner of this link up. MMR still wants to own their link up.

I returned my Fitbit ionic for a Garmin Forerunner a year ago and haven’t regretted my decision once. I love the Garmin Forerunner And it does exactly what I need it to do with MapMyRun!
