Fitbit Steps & Imported workout from Movescount synced with Map My Fitness

Hello

Are my calories being misrepresented?

I import my workouts via Movescount which is linked to Map My Fitness which syncs with My Fitness Pal which syncs wtih my Fitbit.

Are my calories being accounted for twice, i.e. my workout and the steps counted during my workout.

Any help is appreciated.

Happy stepping 🙂

@CallMeBossy Thanks for stopping by the community! Your activities/workouts should override your tracker's data, this ensures that your data won't be counted twice. So it should not multiple your information. This means that when you sync your tracker, Fitbit replaces your estimated calorie burn with your tracker's data or a third party app activity like MyFitnessPal.

When you haven't synced your device or logged any activities, Fitbit tries to guess how many calories you have burned if you got out of bed, got dressed, went to your day job, came home, and did nothing much more than walk to your car, this adds your Basal Metabolic Rate (calories burned just by breathing and sleeping).

Also, MyFitnessPal has another way to estimate its calorie budgets. This may be another the reason why you're seeing a discrepancy. This change is intended to give users a more accurate representation of what they should eat. You can read more here: Total daily calorie partners. Let me know if you have another question. :robothappy:
