GPS map disappearing

Background

I have been using Fitbit the same way for the last 6 months and the problem only occured this week.

I also use my fitness Pal, and have been, for the last 6 months. The apps are linked and in the activity section on Fitbit app, the myfitness pal record of the run will be there too. So effectively the run is being tracked twice, and it doubles the caloric expenditure etc.

So I delete the myfitness pal record of the run. And for the last 6 months there has been no problem.

Usual experience

When I return from a run/cycle the GPS map is on the record of the activity. No issues. Every is fine at this stage. I get to look at the splits and the GPS and heart rate etc. All working perfect.

Problem

Now however, after I delete the myfitness pal record of the run, in the Fitbit activity section, the fitbits record of the run will lose its GPS map and everything in that first panel you see. Splits, heart rate etc. The map panel is gone.

It will still have all the rest, though the calories expended just become a straight line.

I Will Try

Tomorrow I will try to not delete the my fitness Pal record of the run and see if that will solve the GPS issue, however I will still have double calorie expenditure for my run though.

Any solutions or ideas or past experiences would be appreciated.

I'm not understanding why use both apps.

I have been using myfitnesspal since 2013 and I am comfortable with its UI etc.

The calories I track in myfitnesspal get brought over to Fitbit so I know how much I am over/under in calories for the day.

I am aware Fitbit has a food log too but it doesn't seem as intuitive
