I don't use Runkeeper, but do use MapMyRun.  None of the GPS run data from the Surge can be shared with any app right now.  I misunderstood this when I bought the Surge as the fitbit site states its ability to "Sync" with both run apps.  But that syncing does not include run data, only things like daily steps etc.  Its shocking, but true.

The Runkeeper integration is mostly useless. I have the Fitbit Aria scale and it does sync my weight, the only worthwhile feature IMHO.

Yeah, I was under this misaprehension also, what a bummer, I got the surge so I didn't need to run with my phone!

I really wanted my activities to push through so I could track all my runs in Runkeeper.

I really wish that Runkeeper is able to pull the GPS data from my Fitbit App or Fitbit Surge device. Now I still have to carry my iPhone and Fitbit Surge if I want my GPS data in my RunKeeper app. This is really stupid. Why can't RunKeeper fix this problem for us? Other Apps like Strava and Endomodo are able to do so.

you can export .tcx from FitBit and import to RunKeeper

Thanks @SunsetRunner for sharing the info on transfer GPS data via files. That's too much of work. With the current technology, the user and consumer should not be made to do this manually.

It should be easy for RunKeeper Company

to do an auto-transfer from Fitbit Apps or Fitbit Surge device to our RunKeeper again. Just do not understand why until now they are still not providing us that enabler.

I am facing the same problem. With the Fitbit Surge I was hoping to be able to run just with the Fitbit Surge without having to carrying my iPhone with me (with RunKeeper apps running).

But RunKeeper as of not still not able to transfer the GPS data from FitBit Surge to my RunKeeper.com account or Runkeeper App. This is really disappointing. And now that I have upgraded my phone to iPhone 6+, it's almost impossible to carry it while doing long distanc running. Sigh....

I have moved this thread to the third party app area.

As for runkeeper importing your GPS data, have you asked them. It is up to runkeeper - not Fitbit. I suggest to get on their case.

According to this, problem is on the fitbit side.

A couple of points:

- Runkeeper is responsible for the integration

(by looking at auth process, Runkeeper servers are asking Fitbit for data)

- Fitbit API allows 3rd parties like Runkeeper to download activities with GPS

- Fitbit API only allows activities with GPS to be downloaded

- ask Runkeeper to update their integration

@Ondrej_H for what syncs between Fitbit and  Runkeeper see https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Third-Party-Integrations/Third-Party-Apps-Informational-Post/m-p/147...

For Fitbits FAQ see https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Third-Party-Integrations/Third-Party-Apps-FAQ/td-p/1874190

I do understand that Runkeeper has an open API as Fitbit does.

When you setup a connection between Fitbit and Runkeeper, it is Runkeeper that accesses Fitbits API.
