@soydepr Hi there! Thanks for stopping by the community! Yes, they're right. You can link both accounts (MyFitnessPal and Fitbit). Once you link both accounts, Fitbit syncs your steps and calories to MyFitnessPal and MyFitnessPal syncs food and activities.
If you're using a GPS to track your steps, keep in mind your Fitbit calculates your distance by multiplying your walking steps and walking stride length. Similarly, your running steps are multiplied by your running stride length. And this will not necessarily match a pre-measured distance, and may cause a slight discrepancy between data.
Once your data syncs, all steps and calories recorded by your tracker are overridden for the duration of a manually logged activity or a third party app activity (like in your case) by the activity's entered values. This ensures that your steps are not counted twice as long as the manually logged activity has the correct start time and duration.
Your Fitbit Flex will have a firmware update once in a while. Perhaps this article can help: How do I update my tracker using a computer?
I see that your subject mentions the HealthKit app, Fitbit has not made any announcements regarding integration with the iOS8 Health App. If this is something in which you're interested, please visit this feature suggestion and contribute your vote and comments. This is a great way to let our developers know what you'd like to see in the future!
