Issues with Fitbit syncing to AARP rewards

Since the end of September, every few days, AARP says my Fitbit app is not connected, even though the Fitbit app says it is connected to AARP . So I need to revoke AARP’s access from the Fitbit app, and then on AARP allow Fitbit to connect to AARP. This has happened at least 3 times so far.

i spoke with AARP and they told me that maybe it’s because I use my iPad to sync the Fitbit luxe but my iPhone to sync my Fitbit scale. She told me to connect my Fitbit luxe to the phone instead of the iPad since when I walk, I have my phone with me.

well, I removed the Fitbit luxe from my iPad Fitbit device connections. Then went to add the Fitbit luxe on my iPhone’s Fitbit app. I tried for over an hour. In that time, it only found the Fitbit luxe once and it never got any further than telling me it was connecting ... for over 10 minutes. I followed the instructions, turned Bluetooth off and then on again multiple times, reset the Fitbit multiple times. Nothing worked.

I finally gave up and reconnected the Fitbit luxe to my iPad’s Fitbit app - piece of cake.

Any suggestions as to why AARP would keep disconnecting from the Fitbit app, or why I can’t get my iPhone to connect to my Fitbit luxe after disconnecting the Fitbit luxe from my iPad Fitbit app?

@LizzyFitbit  After all that, I had issues with syncing the Fitbit on my iPad, so I disconnected my luxe from the Fitbit app and tried to reconnect it- it simply wouldn’t work- it just kept looking for the luxe and not finding it.

so I tried connecting my luxe to my iPhone and after several tries it finally connected. Worked great the first day. The next day I noticed it had desynced once again from aarp. So I revoked aarp access on the Fitbit & synced the Fitbit with aarp again. In the evening I noticed I didn’t get credit for my steps on AARP, saw Fitbit no longer synced with aarp, and I once again revoked aarp access to my Fitbit data on the Fitbit app. Tried to sync my luxe with aarp again- I selected Fitbit & clicked the button to login to fitbit- and nothing happened. No prompt for login. Tried again this morning- same thing. Usually that only happens when my Fitbit app is open , but I had ensured my Fitbit app was not open on any device.

the aarp chat person said that they would escalate this issue and contact me. Sure hope they can figure it out.

if anyone has any ideas of what could be causing this issue or having similar problems, please let me know!

i chatted with aarp again this morning. They seem to think this is a Fitbit problem. I told them I think it is an aarp issue since every time I am desynced from the Fitbit on aarp, Fitbit still shows that I am connected.

So I had asked aarp to escalate this issue of being de-synced. They were supposed to have called me last week with an update, but I didn’t hear from them.

now, when I go to sync my Fitbit luxe to aarp, I click the button to login to Fitbit after having selected Fitbit as my fitness tracker. And nothing happens.

of course they are going to say this is a Fitbit app issue.

have there been any API changes to let third party apps connect to Fitbit?

I really miss all the AARP Rewards points I had been getting for my steps tracked by Fitbit.

@LizzyFitbit any ideas as to what the cause of this issue is?
