No Strava synching and not able to download GPS data from fitbit app

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I connected my fitbit app and it would send nice maps of runs to Strava. All of a sudden this did not automatically sync anymore.

Most popular recommendation is to download GPS data from Fitbit app. A **ahem**ty workaround but at least I could track my activities. But this option seems to be deleted??? My toggle for gps with workout is turned on.

So now I have no way to upload my activity and maps to Strava now. I bought the fitbit for its great reviews but this very basic two things: integrating with Strava and being able to download my gps data - are not available.

Please help me find the issue. Turning it off and on again, re-connecting, re-syncing, re-installing, I tried most suggestions on the web already.

Seeing the thousands of Reddit complaints about fitbit since google took over, I have little hope that my 100+ euros were worth it, I am currently already looking for a brand with better integration and less bugs. This is my final attempt to keep the device. Sorry for the negativity but having badly working hardware or software takes a lot of timeand frustration. I feel like I am not the only one, when looking at many Reddit users who mention they are done with Fitbit!

On fitbit, was your run recorded with a map.

Have you done the recommended revoke Strava access and reconnect Strava?

This is a common problem. There was another thread that was locked for replies. Sadly no fix or acknowledgement that there is a problem. Eventually this comment will get moderator removed.

Found a fix. You have to start a new Fitbit account with a new email.

If it works with new email then it is most likely a Fitbit issue but there support on this is non-existent.

If you want to use you email, you'll need to delete the account. Appears to be a 30 day waiting period before Data is deleted. Will need to wait until all data is deleted then create a new account with the old email.

I’m having the same problem. I’ve had Strava and Fitbit synced since 2018 and it stopped working on August 25. It only recorded partial activity between August 15 and 25 (missing huge segments of walks / runs in the GPS data).

I’ve tried restarting my phone, revoking access and reconnecting the apps, and updating the Fitbit and Strava apps. Nothing has worked. Both Fitbit and Strava show they are successfully connected but they definitely aren’t.

I've tried all but one of the suggested solutions on this and the multitude of other posts... including revoking on each app... uninstalling each app... restarting phones... logging runs instead of walks (when walking... and always seeing GPS connected and recorded on Fitbit)... doing these steps in various order... switching over to google login from Fitbit login, and so on... nothing has worked... still no syncing of walks or runs from Fitbit to Strava.

So the last solution I'll try is deleting my Fitbit account and starting over with a new email, etc.  However, I'll need to attempt to speak with tech support to do this because I am in the middle of my Premium service year and don't want to pay again... so the trick will be to create a new account yet keep my remaining months of service... low confidence they'll be able to handle that complexity, but worth a shot before I let my account lapse and move over to Garmin device 🤷‍:male_sign:.

Just hung up with Google's offshore call center... no help... they have no suggested solution related to syncing with Strava... they warned that if I delete my account to start over, they cant provide a prorated continuation of my prior Premium payment... "it will be lost as we have no way of transferring your credit from one account to another".  So much for me thinking Google was a tech company with all the best digital engineers!

Having no confidence that me setting up another account will guarantee syncing to Strava (no way I'm paying again to 'test it'), I will instead delete my Fitbit account and pursue a Garmin device.  Good luck all!

Hi Everyone!

I'm glad to inform you that we've made some updates to the Strava integration that should address issues with workouts syncing between the apps.

Additional Troubleshooting Steps (if needed): Make sure your Fitbit and Strava accounts are connected, please check that you see Fitbit listed under "Manage apps and devices" in Strava settings on the Strava app and ensure that Strava is also listed in the Fitbit app.

Fitbit App: Using a Google Account:

  • In the Fitbit App, tap on your Profile picture (top right), Fitbit Settings, Manage access to account, Manage connected apps.

Fitbit App: Using a Fitbit Account:

  • In the Fitbit App, tap on the Gear (top right), Fitbit Settings, Manage access to account, Manage connected apps.

We always appreciate your feedback, thank you for your patience.
