Strava information is duplicating

I started Couch to 5 - 7 weeks ago and was using my Fitbit Versa and the Strava app on my phone without a problem. Although, the auto track exercise feature has always been enabled on my Versa and has been useful on the odd occasion where I forgot to start Strava, my Versa used to realize the Strava data was correct and use only that. For the past two weeks, however it has begun duplicating the runs.

I've tried making sure I save the Strava data first but both Fitbit and Strava have duplicates of the run. The Strava shows the full run  (I name it so I know can confirm which is which) with GPS but no heart rate and the Fitbit synced run with all the stats, but it's also messing up any medals or times I'm getting. The Fitbit data shows the full details with GPS on the auto tracked Versa run which is missing the first 6 minutes, and barely any details for the Strava run.

Is there a way for the Versa to only use the Strava data with the full details? I've seen that other people have had problems with other apps (MyFitnessPal, etc.) syncing duplicates but I don't have any other apps set up.

Welcome to the Community, @Momvon.

Registering your exercises with your watch and Strava at the same time might result in duplicated information. I recommend tracking your activities using or your Fitbit or Strava, but no both at the same time to avoid this duplicating problem.

For more tips, you can check the help article: How do I track my workouts with my Fitbit device?.

Let me know if you need anything else. 🙂

Hey! This has been bothering me as well and I can’t seem to find a good solution surfing around here. My Fitbit gives me heart rate which is great, but it’s not added into the Strava run if I don’t also log with Strava. So I will end up having two. And the one recorded on Strava gs the map and the GPS which my Fitbit doesn’t 😞

Is there anyway you could ad a “merge”-feature? Strava should see that they are recorded about the same time.. Jesus, Strava even knows who I run with so it should be possible?

@Kariness Welcome to the Fitbit Community. Thanks for the details mentioned.

I see where your disappointment is coming from. The best place to make your voice heard is our Feature Suggestion board, those are reviewed by our team and the status will change depending on Fitbit plans.

Hope to see your idea on the board. Happy holidays.

I agree with the merge feature.  I simply want to pull heartrate data from my Fitbit into Strava.  But if a merge feature existed you could selectively pull data from either source that would be great.

If Fitbit detects an exercise but Strava wasn't turned on? Keep it.

If they both record, pull extra data from one into the other for completeness, and keep that record.

Exactly, I was dumb for assuming Fitbit and Strava would have had this sorted by now. What is the solution? To manually add workouts to Fitbit like back in 2012?
