Strava not recognizing Fitbit device

Strava usually recognises the device (attached a screenshot of my charge 2). My upgraded device (Charge 4) is not shown against the device ( attached below )

@RBPasumarthi  Are your gps recorded runs and bike rides getting sent to Strava.

The Chargr 4 does not send anything to Strava?

It is what gets recorded to your Fitbit account that gets transferred.

It may be that Strava is not informed of any changes of devices after being setup.

You could revoke and setup again, but this should not be necessary as long as your runs are being sent to Strava.

I've also moved your Strava question to the Third Party Board.

I did the revoke and add . Still I am not seeing the device name. With App gps, device is shown as Fitbit, but with Charge 4 there is no device name at all. Probably this is some thing to be listed in Strava device tracker with Charge 4 code. Not sure if any other Charge 4  user can confirm if device name tracked

Your Strava account does not sync with the Charge 4 but syncs with you Fitbit account.

GPS recorded runs and Bike rides should be sent to Strava. The actual tracker should not have any affect.

Is your Fitbit activity syncing to Strava?

Recently users are reporting a problem.

Hi

thanks for the reply. My issue is not with sync. It is with metadata . I provided screenshots of metadata in my original post. When Strava displays charge 2 , Versa etc why am I not able to see Charge 4 on Charge 4 activity

I have no idea, we do not have access to the coding.

I do know that the link between your Fitbit account and your Strava account is between your accounts, the tracker only has to be able to record with gps.

Hi @Rich_Laue

not a problem. Thank you for timely and most relevant responses. I guess this is something to enlisted in device metadata list in Strava.
not sure if any other Charge 4 user able to see their device name

Thanks

Raveendra

Walgreens still says that I have the Fitbit One.

I have had the Charge, Charge 2, Charge 3, Charge 4, Charge HR, Surge, Ionic, plus the unit Fitbit recalled.

My data still syncs to Walgreens

I have a Charge 3, and I have the same problem. I just assumed it was showing on other people's phones, until I was walking my friend through joining Strava, and it didn't display on our joint activity!

Do you have any workarounds related to this? I have the same issue with Strava activity from Charge 4 which the device name is now shown. It did not happen with my previous Versa.

Your tracker will never sync directly with Strava. It is your fitbit account that syncs with Strava.

If you would like help with this. We will need information on what exercises are not syncing?

We also need to know if the exercise was recorded by the tracker with GPS.

This is because only walks, runs, and bike rides, when recorded with GPS will be sent to Strava.

@Rich_Laue Strava extracts device name from imported TCX. It's a bug on the Fitbit side as the creator field isn't filled correctly for new devices.

Here's one of my old entries from Ionic:

ionic.png

The name of the device appears in Strava.

Here's 'creator' tag extracted from activity recorded with Sense:

The 'name' is missing hence Strava is unable to tell what device has been used to record the activity. Seems like it has been broken for newer devices. Yet another bug, probably never to be fixed.

Does the name really matter. What difference does the recording device make?

Fitbit sends the TCX file when a TCX file has been recorded.

@Rich_Laue it matters same as matter which pair of shoes you used for run or which bike and bike conputer for a ride. It looks to me that you are not much of Strava user so here's word of explanation. Strava keeps record of gear used for activities. It is important for some people. For example, I need to know what device I used to record activity or which shoes I used for running (and by that know when to retire that pair). The problem here isn't that Fitbit doesn't support that Strava feature. The problem is that Fitbit supported that and stopped (which I believe isn't design decision but rather a bug). Unfortunately, I'm afraid this won't be fixed as it's too minor to be even noticed by Fitbit.

Fitbit has to look into it, if it is not resolved yet. I raised this particularly because  Fitbit should be in a position to recognise the bugs priority. Fixing this may not take time but how important is this to customers? My answer is very high.

Is the issue resolved for anyone yet ? I am using Versa 3 and facing the same issue.
