I have been unable to connect my Fitbit tracker to the Dick's Sporting Goods app. I have all permissions enabled, notifications enabled, etc. When I sign in to the Fitbit account and allow access to all, nothing happens. What am I missing?

I am assuming FitBit turned off their API access for new connections. This is also why if you go to fitbit.com it redirects you to the Google Store. Even if it's broken my guess is they are not going to dedicate software development resources to fix this. Just my opinion, and hoping I am wrong as I am in the same boat with clicking "Allow" does nothing.

Hello @DelReyK and welcome to the Community. I searched the Gallery and can't find it. It's possible that the app was removed. Please double check in the Gallery on your app. I wear a Sense 2 and it doesn't allow third party apps.

Other people seem to have success doing it. I have removed both apps, restarted my phone, reconnect with Bluetooth. ...

I'm in the same boat. I have a new Charge 6 and my phone is Android. I've re-installed both apps and created a new Google account just for this purpose. The Fitbit authorization process simply does nothing and gives no error. It just plain doesn't work. Super frustrating and no help anywhere. This used to work before the account transition to Google.

Hello @ZeroZeroTwo and welcome to the Community. You can't add any third party apps to a Charge 6. Fitbit never released an SDK for any of its trackers. Third party apps are only available for certain smartwatches.

I'm not sure I understand. My Charge 5 WAS connected to my Dick's account, and FitBit connections ARE an option on the Dick's account side of this. So what once worked no longer does.

I was afraid it had something to do with the transition to Google. I tried to get help from Dick's, but they were no help.

@ZeroZeroTwo @DelReyK I sincerely apologize to you both. I misunderstood the post. I thought there was a third party app that could be downloaded onto a Fitbit smartwatch. The comments about permissions and settings sent my brain in the wrong direction.
Please disregard all my comments. Sorry.

@LZeeW I appreciate the response. At least you were trying to help. I contacted Fitbit Support via chat and shared some screenshots. The issue is being escalated, but I won't hold my breath on a resolution. In the meantime (or perhaps forever), I do have a low-end Garmin golf watch that also counts steps, that successfully connects to my Dick's account so I can get rewards credit that way. But do I want to wear 2 watches all the time? No, I do not.

I've now tried contacting both Fitbit/Google and Dick's about this issue. They both essentially pointed the finger at the other party. Dick's did create some sort of support incident, but I know that will go nowhere. As a retired software engineer, I begged to be put in contact with an actual software team but was denied. I have little hope that this will ever work again.
