Which running app to use with fitbit?

Had my fitbit charge hr for 5 days now and pretty pleased with it! (apart from some issues with it occassionally not recording the heart rate on the fitbit app while it still seems to working on the fitbit!!)

I have been using runkeeper to track runs and times and love their training programs. I've done some research into getting the 2 apps to talk to each other but it's a no go!!!! I'm now looking for a new running app.

Some of the things I liked about runkeeper were the training programs (as stated before) and being able to set a pace that I want to keep with and showing how fast my run was in comparison with all my previous runs of a similar length.

Any suggestions?

Managed to sort out strava! It has synced 4 of my past runs (which might be all of the runs I've done with my fitbit). Really pleased with strava and fitbit so far! !

Here's a list of compatible apps. Runkeeper is on the list, it shouldn't be a problem. What are you having difficulty with?

The "compatible" element is a bit deceiving. With runkeeper the information only goes one way (although I haven't managed to get it to do that!) I have read that you can link runkeeper to my fitness pal and like mfp to fitbit and they will all talk to each other! Did all that and still can't get it to work. Not planning on going through all the other "compatible" apps to work out which are actually compatible. Thought I would ask on here what everyone else uses and recommends.

Ahh, that's too bad. I use MFP and Fitbit together and have had great luck with it, but I don't use anything for run tracking. I know some Fitbit people who use MapMyRun and really like it, but I don't know whether they sync the two.

Well got excited about this too quickly!!! It tranfered 4 of the 6 runs I had previously done with fitbit and I went for a run this morning and before I even sat down on my return it had synced it to strava! Brilliant!!
I then realised that the time I ran wasn't right! I have then looked at the other runs and every single time is wrong! Discrepancies vary from 19 sec to 2 min 59 sec!!!!!! If they cant transfer over the basic run time correctly how do I know that the heart rate info is correct!!!!
Going to contact them both and see if either will be able to offer a solution!!

In the meantime any body seen this before and can offer a solution?

The only app I have has success with is Mapmyfitness.  I recently started using running for weight loss and found that it was over-writing my fitbit tracking.  Very frustrating! I had to unlink the app and delete the data that was added in to fitbit to get my steps back.  I hope you find an app that works for you!

I have now found an app that works for running. Strava. I record the activty with the fitbit app and it automatically transfers the information to strava. The one thing to be aware of is that fitbit records activity time while running and strava records moving time, taking out any times when you have stopped. Good luck with your running and weight loss!!

I have not found an app that will since with Fitbit to allow real time heart monitoring. I was able to use MIO HR monitor to link real-time to Runkeeper. Runkeeper blames Fitbit and Fitbit blames Runkeeper. Wish they would get on the same page😕
