Why won't FitBit utilize RunKeeper's API?

Runkeeper uses FitBit's API to read data.  Why won't FitBit return the favor and use Runkeeper's API to read data?  It is completely possible to do so.  I would love to have my activity data sync to Fitbit without having to go through MyFitnessPal (which does not save all info, like distance).

 

I have contemplated writing an app to do so but currently do not have the time. Surely some developer can do so??

I'd like it as well. Fitbit blames Runkeeper and Runkeeper blames Fitbit. Bottom line, it doesn't work and there's no legitimate method to share data. "Fat fingering" data is the only way.
