But do you know if there is going to be one in the future?

There is an unofficial app here, but it does not allow for syncing:

Yes, can we have windows app already?

Best Answer

Windows Phone does not support Bluetooth 4.0, wich is needed to sync with things like fitbit and other wearables.

Most windows phones have the hardware for Bluetooth 4.0, so as soon as windows phone 8.1 is released, develoupers will most likely uppdate their third party apps, so your fitbit can sync with your phone. I'm pretty sure we will se an official app after that aswell, as there was one in develoupment last year.

For now, just use one of the third party apps. They are just as good as the official ones, apart from the lack of syncing, wich is a problem in the windows operatingsystem itself.

I want to sync with my TRS-80.  I bet that will happen before a windows phone.  The market share for windows phones is what, 2%?  And to make a windows phone to sync means a whole (real) windows app...  People have been asking for that for over a year....

Your cell provider will probably allow you to upgrade long before there is a fitbit app for your windows phone.

I down loaded 2 window's apps from the windows store. One works and the other keeps asking for a PIN. It allows me to see what is on my page, but it does not track, and I can't sync. The Fitbit Tracker  allows me to see everything. The DotNetNuzzi Fitbit Activity Tracker Keeps asking me for a PIN. I keep going to settings and there is no way to set up a PIN

Lumia phone (windows Phone 😎 do have support for Bluetooth 4.0 already since the nokia "amber" update (summer 2013 !!!). The latest update is the Black update (early 2014)...

Therefore, Bluetooth 4.0 LE is ALREADY on Lumia devices since last year... why don't we have an official fitbit apps which Sync ??? probably a Fitbit decision !

Maybe I am imagin it, but I could swear that my fitbit app on Lumia 920 seems to just automatically sync with the fitbit tonight!!

I usually syn'ed using my laptop, but with my latest walk today, when I checked on the phone while taking my son to sleep, I checked my lumia 920, the fitbit actually showed the latest walk I did.

This is the first time I saw it happen, but will try it later or tomorrow to see if this is the case.

Have you had your Fitbit device near a PC that was on and had Fitbit software and sync dongle installed between the last time you checked your stats and the time you noticed the new info? Then the PC did an auto-sync and the Windows Phone app just showed the latest data from your online account, which is the only thing it can currently do.

I take my Fitbit USB dongle with me to work, and the same way within about ten minutes tops my lunch walk shows up on my phone through this method. That works fine.

I saw one comment about someone willing to leave FitBit for a contender if they don't create an official FitBit Inc. Windows Phone app soon.  I fully support the idea and I ask that others jump on board.  Unless enough of us make this an issue, they won't create the app.  FitBit... catch up with the other vendors that create apps for all 3 phone platforms!!

Hear hear! There is currently no real contender that I can see (relatively new to fitness tracker hardware, except for Withings scale which has some crap software and also nothing for Windows), but as soon as a competitor releases some tracker that has a working Windows app (Phone and/or Tablet), that syncs via BT and sync data to Healthvault my couple of weeks old Fitbit One goes in the trash instantly...

I love my fitbit flex. I am constantly see my progress as I continue using my flex, but here is the problem. You have released an app for Android and iOS and since he functionality is at large which you dont need to use PC to sync my data, is one of my dire needs for myself. I am constantly active and it would be great to find on a consistent basis. The problem is that there is no official app for windows phone and this is what gets me fustrated.

Windows Phone may not have a huge marketshare , but you are making a great mistake when you dont even care about the ecosystem. The fact  that windows phone has been increasing marketshare in parts of the world today already shows the demand for windows phone. There is a wearable watch , wellograph and what interests me in their product is that they have a heart rate sensor and has the same functionalities as fitbit flex The good thing about wellograph is that they are already RELEASING an app for windows phone in June. I am very very tempted to use their product and consider dropping the use of fitbit flex.

If you want users to continue using fitbit flex, please RELEASE your app in all platforms , it would welcome all users in different platforms to enjoy your products. Concentrating on two platforms that have the biggest marketshare is not the way to go.

As for me, If Fitbit does not release an app for windows phone , I am dropping fitbit in favour of Wellograph and I will never be back AGAIN.

Hopefully you have read my comments and please feel free the need to contact me

@ranjeetbassi, while I understand your frustration.  You may want to hold off until Windows Phone 8.1 has released before abandonding fitbit.

Rationale?  While Bluetooth LE has been available on some Windows Phone 8.0 handsets (like the ones with the Nokia Black release), it'll be available on all Windows Phone 8.1 devices.  It may be that fitbit may be waiting until then to release their app, since they require Bluetooth LE to sync.  As to why they're not choosing to respond to any users is a mystery, the Official Windows Phone App is the #2 feature request, and it still listed as 'New Idea'.  Most other top requests are listed as 'Under Review'.

It seems like 'Windows' in general is a dirty word at Fitbit.  Case and point, they have an official Windows 8 application, yet they don't list it under Mobile Apps, they don't document how to sync with it in any of their manuals (you can with a dongle), and they don't even have a support section here in the forum.

I hope this helps.

Frank,

I agree with you on the fact that fitbit totally ignores the Windows community...

The BT LE api enabled by the Lumia Black update is the same as the one in WP 8.1... Therefore developing the app now won't change much compare to WP 8.1
Also, WP8.1 will be released on 24th June, less than 1 month away...
I seriously doubt Fitbit will release a app at the same time despite the fact that the WP 8.1 developer preview is available for free since April.
finally, according to evleaks, the Force, relaunch due for the end of the year will sync with iphone and 44 android phones... Therefore Windows Phone is NOT part of Fitbit roadmap...

Time to jump ship and build a social network with the competition...

Tony.

If the feature request gets 88 more votes it'll be in first place for feature requests...  And it has been moving fast recently.

Anyone else want to vote for it?

Have already voted, but will post request to vote for http://is.gd/IsQCvN on Twitter in the hope that the Windows Phone app developer community (hashtags #wpnl , #wpdev and #WinPhan) will vote for it, even if they don't use Fitbit themselves. Will post later today, when more people worldwide are awake.
