After working well since the start of 2023, my Versa suddenly started showing the time and date permanently on the screen. A press of the button brings up the normal coloured display, and all the other functions seem to be working. A reset hasn't made any difference. It doesn't matter what I'm viewing at the time, I was checking my step count, but instead of going to a blank screen after a few seconds, it goes to the time/date display until I press the button and it goes back to what I was looking at previously. Very odd. I'll keep checking throughout the day and will see if it has any effect on the battery life etc.

It sounds like you've got always-on display turned on, either accidentally or intentionally. That keeps the display always on, but goes to a minimal display to avoid total battery rundown. A button press or turn of wrist will show normal clock face, but then on timeout, instead of blank it goes to the minimal black & white display.
Checking Versa 4 manual I see that is in Quick Settings, so easy to turn on accidentally. Probably also accessible in full Setting under Display.
