Brand New versa 4 malfunctioning

Hello all,

My gf just gifted me the Fitbit Versa 4 for Christmas and I was extremely delighted to finally have a smart watch, especially from Google as I'm a Pixel owner and I use everything Google. Within the first few hours it was not functioning properly. It stopped sensing my heart rate so I restarted it a few times and even tried the factory reset. Still was not sensing. So I ended up turning it off for 20 minutes and upon restarting it the heart sensor began working again. It still has no reading for the O² sensor and the battery drains in less than 8 hours! I've had to recharge it several times since receiving it just a couple of days ago, including yesterday while out climbing. I had to bring my portable charger to keep it from dying. I have the dim screen setting, screen activation via button only, plus I have not downloaded a single app and I literally have only used it to track my heart rate and my sleep for the last two nights. I woke up after 7 hours and it needed a charge, which is very frustrating because I fully charged it before going to bed! Is it just a defective device or is there something else at okay that I'm unaware of? Please help.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @ClimbNcycle - it does seem not to be functioning properly, unless GPS is permanently on which will drain the battery in under 5 hours which seems most unlikely. Seriously consider a refund.

If you are unhappy with the watch Fitbit have a 45 day refund policy if bought direct from them or from an authorised shop perhaps, and some stores offer a 14 to 30 day one.

Being a Google person you will find it has no Google Assistant or Music and no apps, limited clocks. A Versa 3 may be a better fit currently, unless you need something specific on this watch.

Thank you for your response. I am returning the watch and replacing it with the Sense 2. I considered the Pixel watch, but with just 24 hours of battery life, it doesn't seem ideal and the Versa 3 has less sensors and kinda seems like a step backwards, even with the Google and music options (which I'd love to have). Just to update the situation on the Versa 4, it completely stopped tracking my heart rate, never tracked anything else and was in a loop of resetting itself until I placed it on the charger. I'd say it's definitely defective. An unfortunate first experience with Fitbit, but I'm hoping I will have better luck with the Sense 2!

@ClimbNcycle- you may find a Sense [original] or Versa 3 more to your liking as the Sense 2 is missing all the same things that a Versa 4 is missing.

If battery life is what you value have a look also at the Garmin Venu 2 Plus before committing.
