I go through the process, open smart features click on Amazon Alexa, proceed through the next screen to Amazon, and click Allow.
When I get back to the Fitbit App, there's a button that says " disconnected from Alexa" (see image), but then when I get back to the Smart Features screen, it says "not connwcted"
So Amazon connects to the App, but the app does not seem to connect Alexa to the watch.
I cleared the App and Chrome caches, disconnected the watch and connected again. Synched and restarted the watch many times and redid all the steps to no avail.

Just to update, nothing suggested has worked. I have wasted so much time on this that I cannot dedicate any more of my time to it. I will use the watch without Alexa.
It is mind blowing and disappointing that Google cannot manage a simple integration with Alexa and make it seamless.

I had the same issue and did a factory reset and Alexa connected without issue.
