Circle start point on run map

Why does the circle "start point" on my run map not begin where I actually started? Is this because it only starts the run once you hit a certain heart rate? I just want to make sure it is logging my full distance and is not off by .25 of a mile etc.

If you track manually the Exercise app, you need to wait for GPS to connect. Otherwise, if you start running immediately, the start point will show up at the location where the GPS connection has been acquired. It takes a while to connect to GPS (several seconds to even a couple of minutes) so you may run quite a significant distance during that time.
