When I am charging my Fitbit versa four, does my iPhone app collect my steps information?

Hello @mgrobinson7 and welcome to the Community. It can do this if you activate MobileTrack in your Fitbit app. Tap on your device/battery icon in the upper right of your app, then Phone in the Add new devices section. How do I track my steps with Fitbit with my phone? Follow the prompts.
Keep in mind that you must wear your phone for the steps to count. 😉

@LZeeW Thank you for your help.
@mgrobinson7 , A warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for your question.
If you still see data (besides the burned calories) on the Fitbit App while the Versa 4 is charging, I agree with our friend LZeeW . You might have MobileTrack on.
MobileTrack uses the phone's sensors to count steps. This is for when you have left your Fitbit at home (e.g. while charging). Please make sure MobileTrack is not activated.
It may happen that the steps recorded with the cell phone overwrite those of the Versa 4.
In the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon (top left corner).
There you will see the devices linked to your account.
If you see the Mobile Device Active option, tap it and remove it from the account.
