Fitbit won't stay connected or update

So I got a working fitbit from my parents who had got it set up on their mobiles and had it up to date. I got it as they didn't used it, followed all the instructions and advice online and it will not connect, update or get off either the trying to connect screen or connected screen.

 

If it's on the connected screen, it freezes until you restart the watch. I've waiting for my phone to update and it comes back with update failed and then can't connect.

The trying to connect screen never goes away and never re-connects.

Suggestions?

It's a versa 4 and I'm still having issues despite trying all the suggestions I've found online and here
