GPS tracking gets cut off

Hi - just started having a recent problem in the Fitbit app with the GPS tracking on my Versa 4. After I complete tracking a walk or a hike, the summary map will only show about half of my trip. The actual stats such as time, distance, steps and zone minutes seem accurate otherwise, but there is definitely an issue with the map itself. Is there a fix for this where my entire exercise can be fully shown? Thank you!

Hi @rryan10, thanks for stopping by, I hope you're doing well.

Let me help you with the map of your GPS tracking.

The issue you are describing is a typical scenario when the GPS signal is lost at some point of your journey. Your Versa 4 requires a direct path to GPS satellites to calculate location. A weak GPS signal might show an incomplete map. Your Versa 4 uses your step count to calculate distance until it finds a signal. That's why the other stats are accurate.

Our help article How do I use GPS on my Fitbit device > How do I get my Fitbit device to connect to GPS? > Built-in GPS > Best practices gives you some best practices in order to improve the experience with GPS activities.

I have the same issue, only the full run shows up on the gps tracking the first time I check it. 5 mins later if I look again, half my run is gone and stays gone. So it can’t be an issue with the gps signal being lost, it’s an issue with the app.

Correct. I am having the same exact problems. This isn't an issue with the GPS, it's with the app. I had a similar type problem a few months ago where the app wasn't tracking walks/hikes correctly which I brought to this page, and it was fixed soon afterwards. Please look into this, thank you.

I'm encountering the same. It's not GPS problem because the track that automatically synced to my Strava is correct. And all my past activities which were fine also get truncated.

I'm continuing to have the same issues. Other apps where I use GPS tracking are accurate, so this is definitely an issue with the Fitbit app. Please let me know if there is a fix for this, thank you.
