Is Android 10 required for Fitbit updates?

Hello,

I'm brand-new to the Fitbit world (and rather tech-challenged!) and just set up my first (Versa 4) smartwatch today. I have a quick question: I saw something during the setup process that indicated an OS of Android 10 or above is necessary to receive the latest informational updates from Fitbit. I have a phone with Android 9 and it syncs fine with my Versa 4, as well as in every other way, and I've only had it three years, so I don't particularly want to get a new phone right now—but don't want to miss any important update info, either. Am I okay with staying with my phone for now?

Thank you!

Hi @Lucie704  as long as you don't remove the app from your phone, it will work, just not completely. I have an old Android 9 phone that I use for an alarm and it still syncs my Inspire 3. My new Android 14 has the new app and can sync well. I use it mainly for steps and sleep and not all the extra features. Ultimately you'll need to get the newer phone to keep up with the latest features. click to learn more about compatible devices
