My opinion about the Versa 4

I hope someone reads this before purchasing a Fitbit. I used to love Fitbit, the 1st Versa I had lasted years, had great features and was at a cost point much better than an Apple Watch with a far superior battery, so it made perfect sense to me to buy a versa 4 when mine finally died after years of great use. I had a versa 4 for 1 month past their year warranty before it died. The screen on the charger worked but as soon as it was taken off the charger it no longer turned on. I tried everything I could, through forum posts, suggestions etc before calling support. Before I get to that I should mention essentially the same thing has happened to my father wit his Fitbit charge 3 and charge 5, although his lasted under 2 years, and my aunt also had the same issue with hers. With his charge 5 he also went through the steps and tried to get it to work. I eventually called support and talked to a tech, he walked me through a bunch of things I had already done and then said he would check with a superior to see if they could make an exception to get me a replacement being only a month after warranty. Fitbit is definitely aware of this problem. The supervisor said they couldn’t and sent me a 35% discount code instead to buy another watch. I will not be using this, this is completely unacceptable. They said it’s not worth fixing. IMO since Google bought Fitbit it has gone completely downhill. New models should not lose features (just as an example not being able to store music on my versa 4 when I could before, although I was aware of this before I bought it, it’s like they had moved backwards). I would save your money for an Apple Watch, or if you are a diver a Garmin, but I will no longer support Fitbit. Not when they can no longer stand behind the quality of their own product and the more I read into this the more apparent it is they have fallen. Unfortunately anyone that has read this will probably already have purchased a Fitbit, but you cannot review their products on their own website. So I’ve posted here, and on Amazon where I initially bought the versa 4 (only bc the shipping was faster through Amazon). Anyway if you still choose to buy a Fitbit I hope you have better luck than me or my family members, and if your Fitbit doesn’t last don’t forget to cancel your monthly subscription as well.

Totally agree with you.   I have been a Fitbit user for many, many years and have had my Versa 4 for just over a year.  It still works but I'm starting to notice the touch screen doesn't work as well - goes between being hyper sensitive to practically having to pound on it to get it to register.  I fully expect it to stop working because it's past the 1 year replacement mark now.  I'm surprised you were able to get through to their support area - they don't make it easy to find out how to get in touch with them.  I've noticed a big decline in quality and service with the move to Google and as much as it pains me, when my current Versa 4 quits I won't get another Fitbit product.

I just unboxed my new versa 4. Which I will be putting directly back into the box and taking back to Sam's. There is no music controls on the watch!! Unless you pay for YouTube. That's some dirty greedy BS. Before finding this out I was going to go and swap for a fitbit charge. But, with that greedy BS and now quality issues. I'm done with fitbit for good. Do better fitbit.

I've tried 3 different Garmin styles.  While performance and quality is there.  The comfort, the light of the sensor at night while sleeping and the platform I just could never get used to.  After much contemplation I got the Versa 4 last week (after having a Sensor for almost 4 yrs with nothing but issues - call me gullible).  I liked the basic platform and the app of the versa 4 - I've yet to get BR, Sleep stages are basic (worse than Garmin), HR and RHR seem completely off (way too high).  Yet battery life is good because it isn't monitoring what it's supposed to while I sleep.  UGH!  So frustrated and it's looking like a return.

Have an android so Apple Watch is not an option and Samsung - tried and never got a full 24hr battery life (an extremely common issue with all their watches).

Maybe it's me - I give up.

Completely agree. I had a Fitbit One for years and years with no problems other than the batteries eventually dying. But the Versa 4 I bought has had, and still has, so many issues almost from the moment I took it out of the box.

I agree that this is no doubt a problem related to Google purchasing Fitbit. They care more about sucking you deeper into their ecosystem than about the quality of their products.

I decided to get a Fitbit Versa 4 instead of other popular brands primarily because of the battery life and online reviews.

  • However, I was sadly mistaken, after a year the face dropped off.
  • Now the time zone keeps changing, the watch keeps freezing
  • I get a green flashing screen followed by a large red “X” on the screen.

I have purchased the Samsung Watch 7 to replace it.

But I hope I haven’t jumped from the frying pan into the fire…...

Time will tell…
