My step count can change by a few hundred steps depending on what the app wants to do.

My Fitbit app is up to date and my Fitbit is up to date it’s not good when the app decides to remove up to a few hundred steps. Sometimes it adds steps and sometimes it takes them away. I can sync my phone and watch the steps go down.

Hi there @Paulg123, it is nice to see you back in the community!
It's frustrating to see inconsistencies in your step count. Several factors can influence step tracking accuracy, such as device placement, movement patterns, and app syncing. Please make sure that your Fitbit app is up to date.
To get a more consistent reading, try wearing your device on your non-dominant wrist and ensuring a snug fit. Also, check if there are any manual activity entries that might be affecting your total.
